We are experienced with the economics of livestock production and dedicated to helping improve your farm’s productivity and profitability. We also understand the connection that animal owners have with their pets and provide the professional and courteous care you would expect for a member of the family.
Our equine center provides the newest technologies available along with experienced veterinarians and staff to provide the highest quality of care for all types of horses, from the backyard pleasure horse to high end performance athletes.
Meet Our Staff
Dr. Collin Galbreath
Collin Galbreath DVM, MS is a 2011 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. He received his BS and MS degrees from North Dakota State University. His master’s thesis was in Animal Reproduction. Dr. Collin’s veterinary interests include livestock production systems including feedlot and cow/calf operations. He also enjoys working with pets with specific interest in small animal surgery. When not on the job, Collin enjoys hunting, fishing, and showing cattle and sheep. He and Fonda have an Australian Shepherd dog named Duke. You will likely meet him when coming into the office or working cattle.
Dr. Fonda Galbreath
Fonda Galbreath DVM, CVSMT is a 2009 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies at North Dakota State University. Dr. Fonda’s veterinary interest is the horse. She specifically enjoys working with the equine performance athlete. Dr. Fonda has received additional training in animal chiropractic (veterinary spinal manipulation) and acupuncture. Her specific veterinary interests include lameness, surgery, chiropractic and acupuncture. In Dr. Fonda’s free time, she enjoys competing in the sport of cutting with her horse Red and barrel racing with her horse Spunkie.
Paula Maddocks is one of the licensed veterinarian technicians at Oakes Vet Service. She received her technician degree at NDSU in 1984 and has been employed at Oakes Vet since then. Paula was honored as the North Dakota Veterinary Technician of the year in 2003. Paula and her husband Ron reside and farm near Hecla, SD. They have two college age children, Kristina and Rance, who are active in rodeo. Paula enjoys raising quarter horses and attending rodeos to support Kristina and Rance.
Jessica joined Oakes Veterinary Service as an assistant in May 2007. She assists in any area that is needed for the day. Her emphasis is computers, pet memorials, pet health reminders, AVA/Leader’s Edge and the SelectVAC programs. Jessica resides in rural LaMoure, ND with her husband Anthony and children, Atley, Eden, Henry and Ellie. Together they raise beef cattle and own/operate LaMoure Lockers. Jessica also has an array of pets she tends to, which include dogs, goats and rabbits. She enjoys the outdoors, watching her children grow and spending time with her family and friends.
Kyla is a veterinarian technician at Oakes Vet Service. She graduated from Globe University in 2016. Kyla graduated from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD in 2014 with a general studies degree before pursuing her degree as a technician. Kyla moved to Lisbon, ND with her boyfriend Jayce and her son Emmitt. She enjoys playing with her son and being outdoors.
